Student Services
LUS provides a number of different forms of student services, both through LUS own organisation and through foundations of which LUS is a founder. LUS helps students with housing and student rights, and enriches students' study time through the Lundakarneval and the newspaper Lundagård. Furthermore, LUS is the founder of the foundations Lunds studentkårs friluftsgård, Lunds studentkårs kreditkassa, Lunds studentkårs daghem för barn and Folkuniversitetet i Lund. The goal of LUS student services is to make the students' time at Lund University as good as possible. The different types of LUS student services are described below.
The Student Ombudsman provides advice and support to students who have experienced problems in connection with their education. This could be anything from a student experiencing an incorrect assessment of an exam, to a student being discriminated against by a teacher. No issue or problem is too big or too small for the Student Ombudsman. The Student Ombudsman can provide guidance and information, initiate an informal investigation into an incident and/or act as an agent or mediator in the student's dealings with the university. The Student Ombudsman is employed by LUS and can therefore help students without being employed by Lund University.
All students at Lund University can seek advice from the Student Ombudsman free of charge. The Student Ombudsman also provides advice and support to the student unions in their work with student affairs. The Student Ombudsman is bound by confidentiality and therefore no information is passed on unless the student explicitly requests it. All contact and action by the Student Ombudsman is carried out on the student's terms. Read more about the Student Ombudsman's activities on the Student Ombudsman's website.
BoPoolen is LUS own housing agency, whose main purpose is to provide student housing to students at Lund University. BoPoolen is financed by grants from Lund University and Lund Municipality. BoPoolen works actively to encourage Lund's residents to rent out rooms and apartments to Swedish and international students. In addition, BoPoolen works for a safer housing market for Lund's students, by reviewing rental advertisements and giving students tips and advice on current laws and regulations in the housing market. Advertising through BoPoolen is free of charge, both for those looking for accommodation and for those renting out accommodation. Read more about BoPoolen's activities on BoPoolen's website.

Before each Lundakarneval, the Carnival Body appoints a Carnival Committee, which is responsible for ensuring that that year's Lundakarneval comes to fruition and for carrying out the practical work. Lundakarnevalen takes place every four years and large numbers of students are involved in its organisation. During the carnival days, Lundagård is transformed into a carnival area and lots of visitors come to Lund to take part in Lundakarnevalen. Lundakarnevalen is a non-profit and non-commercial event. The aim is to entertain students and the general public in the spirit of Lund and the carnival. Read more about the carnival on Lundakarnevalen's website.
